Dentistry for Kids · San Diego
Kids are genuinely welcome here. From a first checkup as a toddler to cleanings, sealants, and cavity care as they grow, we keep visits calm, unhurried, and easy for parents to understand — at one neighborhood office in City Heights.
We slow down for young patients. No rushing, no scary instruments left visible, and plenty of honest explanations at their level.
We tell kids what is going to happen, show them the tool, then do it — so nothing comes as a surprise. It is one of the simplest ways to keep a child calm.
Many of our families prefer to discuss their child's care in Vietnamese or Spanish. Our clinical and front-desk team speaks your language.
We accept Denti-Cal (Medi-Cal dental), which covers most preventive care for eligible kids, plus most major PPO plans. We verify your child's benefits before the visit so there are no bill surprises.
Open Monday through Saturday, with early Thursday and Friday slots starting at 8 AM — handy for before-school appointments. Sundays by appointment.
Care for little smiles
Preventive, gentle, and explained at a kid's level. We handle routine children's care in-house and refer to a pediatric specialist for complex cases.
A gentle, low-pressure introduction to the dentist. We count teeth, check growth and gum health, and answer your questions about teething, thumb-sucking, and brushing at home.
Routine cleanings and exams to catch small issues before they grow. We tailor the schedule to your child's age and cavity risk rather than a one-size-fits-all timeline.
Fluoride helps strengthen developing teeth and protect against cavities. We explain when it makes sense for your child and apply it quickly and comfortably.
Thin protective coatings for the grooves of back molars, where cavities most often start in kids. Quick to apply, no drilling, and a simple way to reduce future fillings.
When a cavity does happen, we treat it gently and keep baby teeth healthy until they fall out naturally. We use tooth-colored fillings and take time to keep your child at ease.
For nervous kids we go slow, let them hold instruments so they feel less mysterious, and never force a procedure. We can also schedule a no-treatment "get to know us" visit first.
How it works
We recommend a first checkup around age one, or within six months of the first tooth. Early visits keep things simple and help your child get comfortable before any treatment is ever needed.
Kids' intake forms are shorter and parent-assisted, and you can complete them online before you arrive — so you spend less time in the waiting room and more time settling your child in.
We talk to children directly, not just to the parent in the room, and we walk you through what we see and why. No one leaves confused, and you decide the pace together.
Our office is at 5296 University Ave in City Heights, right next to Vien Dong Supermarket. We see kids and families from City Heights, El Cajon, College Area, Kearny Mesa, and across San Diego County.
