Dental Implants · Kearny Mesa & Convoy Street
Many Convoy Street families drive the 15 minutes south to our City Heights office specifically because finding a Vietnamese-speaking dentist who places implants, accepts most insurance, and does not charge a premium for bilingual care is harder than it should be. We have served the Vietnamese community for over 30 years. Our front desk handles patients in Vietnamese, English, and Spanish at every appointment.
Chúng tôi phục vụ bệnh nhân bằng tiếng Việt — đặt lịch hoặc hỏi thăm ngay hôm nay. (We serve patients in Vietnamese — schedule or ask us anything today.)
From Convoy St & Aero Dr, head south on Convoy St or Kearny Villa Rd to I-805 south, then take the University Ave exit east. Our office is on the south side of University Ave between 52nd and 54th Streets, next to Vien Dong Supermarket — the same Vien Dong chain many Convoy families shop at. Total drive time is about 15 minutes depending on freeway traffic.
A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone that acts as an artificial tooth root. Through a process called osseointegration, bone grows around the implant post over several months, securing it in place. Once healed, a custom crown, bridge, or overdenture is attached on top — recreating the look, feel, and function of a natural tooth.
Unlike a bridge, which spans the gap between neighboring teeth, or a removable denture, an implant replaces the root itself. That matters because the jawbone needs stimulation from chewing to stay healthy — without a root, the bone in that area gradually shrinks over time. An implant preserves the bone and keeps neighboring teeth in their correct position.
Digital X-rays and, when needed, a cone-beam CT scan give a precise picture of your bone volume and anatomy. We review your medical history, discuss the treatment plan, and give you a full cost breakdown — in Vietnamese if you prefer.
If a tooth needs to be removed, or if bone volume is too low to anchor the implant, preparatory steps happen first. Not every case needs this, and your dentist will be direct about whether it applies.
The titanium post is placed under local anesthesia. Most patients find it more comfortable than expected. A few days of mild soreness afterward is normal.
The implant integrates with the surrounding bone over three to six months. During this time, you can continue eating normally, though we may place a temporary restoration to fill the space.
Once healed, the final crown, bridge, or overdenture is attached. Shade and shape are designed to match your surrounding teeth.
We accept most major PPO dental plans — Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, Delta Dental, and others. Coverage for implant treatment varies: many plans cover imaging, the crown, or the extraction component, while coverage of the implant post itself depends on your specific plan. Our front desk verifies your benefits and walks you through out-of-pocket estimates before any work begins — in Vietnamese if that is what you prefer.
For patients without dental insurance, we discuss phased treatment and cash pricing options. The goal is to make the plan fit your situation, not the reverse.
